Eloise Keene, MS, MPH, RD, LDN , CDE
Certified Diabetes Educator
Eloise Keene, diabetes education program leader, has served in several roles across the country, but has always focused on children, legislation and equalizing the rights of the individual. Through this key focus, she has gained valuable background in food science, nutrition, maternal and child health, renal services, home health care and diabetes nutrition and education.
A native of Huntington, N.Y., Eloise earned a Masters of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition at University of Florida and a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from San Diego State University where she was named Maternal and Child Health Graduate Student of the Year. In the past, she served as Dade County Public Schools Nutrition Education Specialist and the Society for Nutrition Education’s Legislative Coordinator. In 1988, she was chosen to present at the International Congress of Dietetics in Paris, France.
In addition to her duties at DMS, Eloise remains active in health and community advocacy. She is on the ADA Community Leadership Board, ADA State of LA Advocacy Chair, Safe at School ADA Representative, an ADA family team captain for Amie's Arrows and a JDRF Walk Captain for the Booray’s Boosters and Amie’s Arrows teams.
In recent years, she has been a consultant at the Plaquemines Parish Council on Aging, and held local positions with Dialysis Clinics, Inc. and the Ochsner Kenner Diabetes Program.
She has obtained the Certified Diabetes Educator distinction and also holds certifications from the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the National Board of Certified Diabetes Educators and the Louisiana Board of Dietitians and Nutritionists. She is also a certified pump trainer.
